What Would Life Be Like Without TV?

The lamp in the projector of our TV is living a slow death. Everyday when we turn the TV on it displays a warning message in the left corner, "Warning: Lamp is nearing end of life. Please replace immediately." We've been ignoring this warning because the TV is functioning and thought we'll replace it once the TV no longer works. 


Last night we had a near death experience, we turned on the TV and the volume didn't work. Total panic mode, what are we going to do!? I ran to the 2 other TV's in our house and turned them on, yep, they worked with volume. Is this the next step before the lamp dies? Yes, that's what we assumed, the TV is finally on it's last leg - we have to do something and quick! So what do we do, we go to the store and buy a new TV. 


The new TV is great, it still fits in our entertainment center and has enough attachments to plug in our satellite receiver, our DVD player and our Wii. Perfect, our dilemma is over. We finally turn the TV on for the first time and.... NO SOUND! Are you kidding me! Now what? We sat there for a few minutes then I had a brilliant idea, I asked Brady to reset the satellite receiver to see if that'll do the trick. After 5 minutes of waiting for the receiver to reload a miracle happens, WE HAVE VOLUME!


So the lesson I want to share with all satellite owners is before you think the world is crashing down because the sound doesn't work - PLEASE reset your receiver. Save yourself an expensive trip to the store.


Granted we knew that a new TV was inevitable due to the death greeting we saw everyday but our decision to get a new TV was a little premature last night.

Waiting for Spring

We are super excited that Spring is officially here! This winter was so pathetic, it was cold with no snow so it didn't actually feel like winter. We bought Isabelle a pair of snow boots and mittens for school and she didn't even use them once! We rang in the new season by taking Isabelle to the neighborhood park for her to play on the playground. I have a feeling we'll be spending most of our nights at the park for the next little while.

I wish I had some amazing news or stories to share but I don't, we've just been sticking to our daily routines. Here's what I have to share this month:

We bought Isabelle two miniature aquatic frogs last weekend. She named them Max and Ruby. Although she was overwhelmed with joy when we brought them home the curiosity and fun has already worn off . We had them in her room for a few days but eventually brought them down to the family room. Max and Ruby are very low maintenance, they came with a year's supply of food and only have to be fed twice a week - my kind of care.

Brady purchased a flag pole this winter and has had an itch to get it up since the day it was delivered. To our luck the weather has been decent so we were able to get it installed to proudly display our Country's colors. Our neighbor is a retired Marine and has a flagpole in his yard as well so Brady made sure our pole was just as tall and along with the US flag we have our Army flag flying.

Lastly, Isabelle has been very active and interested in dancing lately. It's so stinkin' cute to watch, eventually I'll be putting her in some classes.

Well, that's about it, I know nothing over the top but we do have things coming up in the next month or so that we're looking forward to: Easter, our anniversary, baseball season and last but not least - potty training!
